Cantores has been growing recently. We are delighted to welcome all the new members, and are enjoying the strength and depth this has given us. However, we do now need to consider the future of Cantores and it's size. The committee has discussed this at length and in detail. We discussed various options and have also consulted our Musical Director.
We feel the choir is now at about the optimal size.
We don't want it to change into a large choral society, but wish to stick to being a chamber choir able to perform the sort of repertoire we manage now (but we can of course combine with other choirs for special events).
We really want to keep the friendly atmosphere we have at present - where it's possible to all know each other, and to have a 10-15 minute coffee break, with time to get a drink.
We have a settled range of venues where we fit, but are starting to outgrow
Our proposal is therefore to close the choir for new members who are sopranos or altos, but to start a waiting list for those ladies who enquire and wish to join us.
For now, new tenors and basses would be welcome immediately, but this will be kept under review.
